SAVE THE DATE! The People of Hope Mobile Museum is on a nationwide tour and will make its way to Southwest Louisiana on Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Hosted by Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana and stationed at the Lake Charles Event Center, this one-of-a-kind traveling exhibit offers an inspiring, interactive experience that invites visitors to encounter the mission of Catholic Charities in a powerful and meaningful way.
Through immersive exhibits, compelling multimedia presentations and personal stories, guests will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families experiencing poverty, homelessness, food insecurity and other hardships while discovering how faith, compassion and service bring hope to those in need.
People of Hope Mobile Museum Highlights
Made possible through a very generous grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., the museum is housed inside a state-of-the-art, digitally equipped semi-truck trailer featuring advanced audio and video technology, interactive touch-screen displays and engaging educational exhibits.
Visitors will experience:
- Inspiring Audio & Video Stories featuring Catholic Charities staff members and volunteers from across the country sharing heartfelt encounters with individuals and families whose lives have been transformed through compassion and service.
- An Interactive Poverty Simulator that allows visitors to experience the difficult choices and everyday realities faced by someone living on a limited, fixed income.
- A Learning Library featuring engaging audio segments narrated by well-known authors and actors that explore themes of hope, service, Catholic Social Teaching and caring for our neighbors.
- Impact Displays showcasing national and state data illustrating the growing needs throughout Louisiana and highlighting the vital role Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana plays in serving those most in need here in our region.
- A Story Recording Studio where visitors can record and share their own stories of hope, faith, compassion, and service to inspire others.
The People of Hope Museum will be offered to the entire Southwest Louisiana region FREE OF CHARGE! We warmly invite area citizens, government officials and community leaders, business teams, high school and college students, faith-filled groups and more to experience this unique and inspiring exhibit.
